TT Testimonial Wall

I’ve started to collate this list of anecdotes related to table tennis, or could be any other sport or exercise regime too. What’s your favourite quote?

The Olympics is where heroes are created
the Paralympics where hero’s come

Will Bayley MBE

The above added 28Aug20

Exercise is medicine

The best exercise for you is the exercise you will do

Fayga Brisman, Michael J. Fox Foundation

I did not conquer Parkinson
but I did conquer the fear of Parkinson

Nenad Bach

(above updates added: 27Aug)

Keep healthy and strong ’til a cure comes along

Charlie

When I play TT my Parkinson’s disappears.
I can hardly eat breakfast… but I can hit a ball at speed

Richard

I couldn’t play any other sport… enjoying [TT] so much… [I] can play 3.5 hours without stop, and had amazing energy… I could walk straighter afterwards

Digna

I started playing TT one night.
Felt much better the next day.

[I] shook less. Improved cognition, movement & stiffness
The more I played the greater the improvement.

Nenad

It really is amazing how well he can still play considering the difficulties he has with doing practically everything else. It’s like a little part of his brain (the table tennis part) is completely unaffected!

We’re really keen to keep Dad playing [TT] regularly as it’s something that he can still do and be good at which is so beneficial for his self esteem as well as the physical benefits!

Charlotte about her Dad

The thought that I might actually be able to represent my country at something like #PWTTC incredible

Being able to play something that takes my mind off this bloody condition for a few moments…priceless

Paul

I don’t [run] to add days to my life.
I [run] to add life to my days.

Patrick

They say things like “I haven’t played for 50 years…”
but soon get into it and 3-4 weeks later say
“that’s done me a power of good”

Phil

It’s really amazing to see you have such a great strong [TT] community in the UK

Fayga Brisman, MJ Fox Foundation

[Nenad] is an amazing chap
and brings so much colour to life!

Mark

They say I have a life limiting condition, I say it just depends where you set those limits

ParkiBoy

Caution: table tennis is not a cure-all, nor likely to affect everyone in the same way. My intention is that these quotes will give some hope and encouragement that it, or other sports and activities, are possible to make a positive contribution to your life in some small way.

I shall continue to add to this list as the collection grows. Please share any which resonate for you.
